It's been so long since I've blogged that I was locked out and had to reset my password.
Where to begin? The last seven months have been occupied by various annoying but non-fatal health issues. I have been severely anemic and have had two iron infusions, both of which have helped. I've developed the ability to fall asleep at the drop of a hat, if I'm sitting and I stop moving. This happens at my desk at work. It happens here at home when I'm on the computer. I nearly fell sideways out of my chair a couple of weeks ago. Would that this happened when I lie down to sleep each night. I'm generally able to manage five hours before one body part or another launches me vertical.
Last weekend (a week ago) I had all manner of respiratory ick, sufficient that I called in on Monday and went back to bed for a few hours. I was able to score a free Covid-19 test at the local college that afternoon and miraculously had the result late on Tuesday. Covid not detected. After the test, I drove downtown, and a coworker brought down my laptop, headset, et al so I could work from home.
That is not going well. I have respectable internet speed, but of course it's not as fast as when I'm working off the server in the office. And because I have chronic cough and sneezing from my year-round allergies, I've had to request an exception so that I may return to the office. I may be working from home through Wednesday of this week.
On Friday I saw my PCP for a routine diabetes check and to discuss the fatigue, possible bronchitis, and propensity to fall asleep at inconvenient moments. I came home with prescriptions for bronchitis, a maintenance inhaler, and a rescue inhaler that I hope does not make my joints hurt. My labs are back. Diabetes is better than last time. Currently not anemic. And there will be cardiac testing in my future. I just hope that it doesn't include time on a treadmill. I cut that test short when I had it several years ago. And I hope that the local cardiologist is not as gorgeous as the one I saw in my old city, because it was disconcerting to have a man that good looking sticking whatever you call those disks for an EKG all over my upper torso. This was pre-Beloved, so it had been at least ten years since a man had been anywhere near "the girls."
Yes, I know that he was in professional mode, and the girls were simply speed bumps on the road to getting a good diagnosis. But my ovaries (which were still functioning way back then) took one look at him and said oh please.
This is probably enough for one sitting. I need to log on in a skosh less than an hour, and I am more than ready for breakfast.
