One for the Road

We had early-dismissal at work yesterday. The regional office in Far North Dallas shut down at 1:00 because of the snow, sleet, ice, etc. We were shut down by 1:10. I picked up a few things at the grocery store and three DVD’s to watch.

No Reservations, Becoming Jane, and Amazing Grace. I watched the first one last night, while coughing and hacking like the last act of Camille. Cute movie. I like Catherine Zeta-Jones. Yes, she is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but she also seems like someone I wouldn’t mind having as a next-door neighbor.

And food, for me, is a metaphor for great chunks of my life. When I was writing the World’s Largest Collection of P!ssed-Off Wife Poetry ten years ago, there were lots of poems about food that were not really about food.

This is a fun movie that didn’t embarrass me, while speaking intelligently about trust and commitment and passion.

I have begged off tonight’s dinner and dance, and the all-day dance lessons for tomorrow. I sound awful [worse than I feel, actually], and I look sick. If I am not very, very careful I will wind up with bronchitis. I simply do not have time for bronchitis. It would cut into my knitting time.

I finished the calf increases on the Stripedy Stocking last night and got three rounds of ribbing worked. Don’t have time to haul out my camera and upload a photo. Middlest, honey, I am also coming down with a case of Finish-itis, so your sock will probably take a backseat until this one is done.

Be good, stay warm. I’m out the door in ten minutes or so, to avoid the worst of the crazies.

Don't worry - you can knit with bronchitis.

I can't believe Texas has nine inches of snow and we are just getting rain. Unfair.

You probably had the easiest commute ever. There were no ice issues on any of my roads and everyone was still at home trying to call off so I breezed into work this morning.

Hope you feel better soon. We wouldn't want anything to interfere in the knitting time. It's very hard to cough and knit at the same time. Don't forget your fluids! :) Have a great weekend.

I'm glad you got home safely, and I hope that your cough heals up and does not develop into bronchitis, or anything else dangerous or uncomfortable.

In regards to the socks, I understand Finish-itis. I just stayed up abour 5 hours later than I needed to, to finish sewing something for Ichigo. I'm pretty pleased with the results, but dead tired.

Love you Mom! Be well!
