[with apologies to the Righteous Brothers, but not the unrighteous ones; two posts today, and no apologies for that]
Oh, my yarn, it’s snarling,
And I’ve been sitting here
A long, lonely time.
Each wee strand is feisty
And tangles into knots;
I’ve lost my mind!
I need this yarn,
Indeed this yarn,
To make a shrug
For me.
Once I cut this yarn into warp for my loom,
Then I chained it up to stay neat;
I have sold my loom and I just want to knit.
But I fear I’m facing defeat.
Oh, my yarn, it’s snarling,
And I’ll be sitting here
A long, lonely time.
Now the chain is tangled,
It’s turned into a braid,
So ill-defined!
Ohhhhh, I need this yarn,
I need this yarn,
To bust some stash
For me.
I was going to tell you how many chains there are to separate out, and how many warp ends are in each chain. But it is one of those your mileage may vary things, and therein lies madness. Suffice it to say that it took me about an hour to separate and wind up the first chain. And if I were going to be incredibly disciplined and focused, I would dismantle each chain before casting on.
Guess what? Tonight I am neither. What we need now is some Aretha. And while you listen, I shall feed the dishwasher. And then, I think, some Eva Cassidy and maybe BB King and Eric Clapton. And I will swatch until I cannot keep my eyes open One. Moment. Longer.
