Just a quick note, then I’m out the door

Not much knitting yesterday. The book that I picked up to read during dinner on Monday night was the first volume in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. My two oldest girls love the book. BestFriend’s oldest daughter is more reserved in her opinion. My opinion? You’ll just have to wait until I have time to sit and write at my usual novella length.

I am about halfway through the 11th repeat of chart 2 on Adamas. It now takes me about 25 minutes to knit a row. Not including the counting. Which calls to mind Carl Sagan’s much-parodied phrase, “billions and billions”. I think we are on the cusp of the “slogging” part. If working my way through so much beautiful yarn could be considered slogging.

I'm in the not-so-enthusiastic camp for the Twilight books. She is definitely just a mediocre writer as far as writing quality goes. Not terrible, but definitely not great. The story itself keeps your interest pretty well, but I maintain that she has about enough really compelling plotline for one, maybe two books, and they've stretched the series to four. That mean A LOT of padding (pages and pages where I kept asking myself when, oh when is something going to happen). I know I'm in the minority on this very popular series, but I write professionally, and I know great writing when I see it. This just ain't great.
