Ms. Ravelled’s Greasy Spoon

There is applewood bacon frizzling away on the stove. Next up will be hash browns. I have rinsed off the grapes I will be taking for part of my lunch [and very nearly cremated the bacon while doing so, but at least I wasn’t burning up a pan while surfing the Net]. Maybe I’d better not invite y’all over for breakfast: the bacon is a little too well-done, and the potatoes are frying in slightly burnt bacon grease and a little too much butter. Thank goodness for strainers and paper towels! I think I will skip the scrambled eggs this morning. I think they would come out tattletale grey. I am still learning how to cook in the cast-iron skillet. This is one of those meals I will have to chalk up to experience.

I will just have to rinse the taste of burnt bacon out of my mouth with some of those nice blackberries. Though I will have to say that the much-blotted hash browns taste a whole lot better than the bacon; they are almost on the cusp of plausible.

Middlest called me at work yesterday, sounding like death warmed over; some sort of stomach bug. So I went to Knit Night alone, and it wasn’t the same without her. I didn’t go over to Firstborn’s, since she was in class until I was ready to come home and go to bed.

I actually stayed at Knit Night until 8:49. That has to be some kind of record for a non-Middlest night! In other knitting news, I cast on the Lumpy Bumpy Scarf on the train yesterday morning, and it’s now about four inches wide. I am fringing it as I go, leaving tails as I change colors, and using my crochet hook to add other bits in between that. Love the yarn, love the simplicity of the pattern, love the instant gratification.

I found a new home for my Mini Mochi yarn; rumor has it that she is spinning up some laceweight that has my name all over it. And I’ve found a home for that partial ball of black Telemark leftover from LittleBit’s hoodie and Fiancé’s birthday socks.

Tonight I will be stretched out on the couch, listening to an audiobook and knitting happily while roasting that pork tenderloin. With any luck, I’ll be home tomorrow night as well. Looks like LadyZen can go to the concert with Trainman and me on Friday night, and we have picked a Saturday for the daytrip to East Texas to view the dogwoods and ride on the steam train.

I am going to have to hustle if I want to make the 6:59 this morning.

Glad you were able to salvage some breakfast.
It also sounds like your morning is going better than mine. Two call offs today and I am still training two new employees.

Say, did WordStar invent that capitalization style?

We need to schedule a visit in March. I'm free pretty much every Saturday, so let me know when you have some time.......

ymmm, sounds like a yummy breakfast - one I haven't had in far too long. (Last year's campout.) Once you get the hang of using your cast iron pan it will become a treasured member of your kitchen.

The dogwoods are already blooming? 29 years ago I attended my best friend's wedding the date set in early April to coincide with dogwood blossom time. (in Woodville, TX)
