Another anniversary!

Secondborn and 2BDH celebrate their ninth today! This is turning out to be quite the month for anniversaries.

Remember Melanie’s new wrap that I saw when I went to see the Harlot? Here is the link. I hope to start it in a couple of months, after I make Autumn Asters and use the new batch of Telemark productively.

I finished the second sleeve on another Christmas ornament, this one from yarn leftover from those brown socks I made for Middlest when she was still in Virginia. When this ornament is finished, I’ll send the rest of the yarn home with her.

Remember all those items on my list yesterday? Proving that the age of miracles has not passed, I got every blessed one of them marked off the list, and a few things that I was carrying around in my head without jotting down.

When I went into the optical shop, I asked the technician if she had a moment to adjust my frames. I took my glasses off and handed them to her, but she told me that she needed to see them in place. She walked around behind me, got a good look at the Ear-ie Canal that was developing, and said, “Oh, that’s not good.” Less than five minutes later, I was walking out of there with a much happier head.

Several of the women in my office tried on the finished Sunrise Circle Jacket. I can hardly wait for cool weather so I can get some wear out of it. For the moment, it is folded and safely stowed inside a plastic sweater box.

Had a fun experience at the post office, when I was mailing off a skein of leftover charcoal grey Denim Silk to another Raveller. Since I still hadn’t made it to the store to get new pens, I borrowed one from the greeter at the post office. I was filling out the label when a man came in and said something to the greeter. Getting something other than the response he wanted, he said, “He’s too busy watching you to [I forget what] for me.”

“That’s because I’m a knitter, and yarn is very dangerous.”

“That’s not why he’s watching you.”

“Oh. [pause, blink] Thank you!”

Yeah, I’m still grinning.

Last night was one of the rowdiest Knit Nights I think I’ve ever attended. Middlest was in fine form. Monica was egging her on. Monica’s daughter was on some impressively heavy meds after a motorcycle accident with her father, so pretty much anything anybody said, made her laugh.

Tonight we have presidency meeting, in which I reset my inner clock to Heaven Standard Time. Meanwhile, there is knitting. I have the body to finish on the Christmas ornament, and the Lace Ribbon Scarf to enjoy. But what I really, really want to do is swatch the Manos and the Malabrigo for Autumn Asters. I am going to try to make myself wait until the box gets here from WEBS.
